We are driving a grassroots campaign to place vending machines stocked with emergency contraception on college and university campuses. The campaign involves social media outreach, online petitions, earned media efforts, and public events. Each participant works with NYBCAP staff and meets with college administrators on their campus to secure a place for emergency contraception in vending machines.

About the campaign

Emergency contraception is a safe form of birth control which is available over-the-counter in pharmacies and can be easily and discreetly dispensed from vending machines. There are several reasons why students are supportive of the measure, including patients’ preference for anonymity and privacy, 24/7 availability, and the convenience of vending machine locations.

Proof of concept exists in New York and across the country. If successful, NYBCAP expects there to be more vending machines stocked with emergency contraception in New York than any other state.
